In my experience, Lacoste, American Eagle, Hollister and Abercrombie and Fitch were all the brands for the Frat Boys and High School douche canoes and dirtbags. Victoria's Secret pissed off the gooners when the company dumped the angels to go WOKE and now cry go woke go broke when they abandoned that new enlightened ad campaign. That brand and the fashion shows were led by a total creep and much of that change in strategy was due to Rihanna and her inclusive underwear brand Savage x Fenty started to made deep cuts into their market share because they made for all sizes and colors and also did not have $60 panties that cannot survive for than three trips to the laundry.
Funny how she went woke with underwear and became a billionaire and she is doubling down while rest of fashion wants to flirt with fascism. She will survive when the rest end up like all the brands that the douche canoes from my high school class are now faded into oblivion. I remember IOU sweaters and Z Cavarichi, or whatever it was called. No one can pass down American Eagle Jeans as like all fast fashion their products don't last.

It finally clicked, many of us have these relationships with these brands because for many of us its the ONLY thing we have nostalgia for from your youth, because everything else was hot garbage. Knitting Cult Lady said reason why you don't remember your bad childhood because your brain was too busy in survival mode to make memories. For many of us those IPs were the ESCAPE from that. Boomers had those third space away from home they had nostalgia of the pick up games at the sandlot.
Then as adults turned that sandlot into a parking lot.
Star Wars and Super Mario did not come home from their shitty jobs drunk and screaming abuse at them for whatever bullshit reason. We all entered adulthood and those same corporations now need to sell that same IP to the next generation and are not betting on it being some cultural heirloom. I have more nostalgia for GI JOE, STAR WARS, NES and the Genesis. My 6 year youth soccer/tee ball stint, barely remember it Even those seasons when the team went 1st place. Because I was a bench warmer being bored into a dissociated state. Around 12 it ended as it does with 65% of kids in these organized sports.
What has also happened? Corporate America is retreating from DEI and celebrating Pride Month due to pressures from Trump, Target got hit with boycotts that already has hurt their bottom line. American Eagle is seeing their stock price jump but remember this is all third world produced fast fashion and wait until those tariffs hit. Target did not cultivate a brand relationship with Frat Boy Douche Canoes.
Some ways this is also a good thing for LGTBQ Pride, do you really want Corporate America rubbing their dicks all over that, watering it down just to sell their shitty products to the point it becomes a withered up soulless husk of a once great movement.
